We have been notified that we have one (1) staff member that has tested positive for COVID-19.  The individual is asymptomatic.  I realize many of you would like more information regarding where the employee works and if they take care of your loved one but due to governmental privacy requirements, we cannot disclose specific information about anyone who has confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Because of the new positive case, we will continue quarantine for as long as the New York State Department of Health epidemiologist recommends.  I have mentioned in previous correspondence that I know how difficult being under quarantine is for everyone.  We can all imagine how especially difficult it is for our residents to be confined to their rooms.  However, it is essential to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The safety and well-being of our residents and staff is of utmost importance. We are doing what we can to limit the spread of COVID-19 within Clinton County Nursing Home (CCNH) including staying in close communication with local and state health officials.  We continue to follow current guidelines:

  • Adherence to infection control and prevention precautions
  • Screening residents and staff for signs and symptoms
  • Testing staff and residents for COVID-19 based on current protocols and availability of tests
  • Practicing social distancing whenever possible

Many of you have heard that Governor Cuomo has lifted the regulation regarding restricting visitation in nursing homes.  We just received the New York State Department of Health’s (NYS DOH) “guidance and recommendations” relating to general nursing home visitation.  CCNH is in the process of reviewing this guidance and ensuring that our visitation plan is in compliance with the guidance and recommendations.  We will be sharing our plan soon.

Unfortunately, the NYS DOH guidance does not allow visitation if there are new onset of COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days. Because we have a positive staff member, we will not be able to accommodate visitation until 14 days has passed.

I would like to encourage you to continue to connect with your loved one through video chat or a phone call.  Please contact our Activities Department to arrange your visit.
